Hop-pickers pub closed! Save The Sondes Arms in Selling!

Postby debs on Thursday 25 Aug 2011, 10:02

Deep in the heart of hop-growing country, The Sondes Arms was always the first pub seen by the hoppers as they got off the train in Selling for the hop-picking season- the first one they drank in, and the last one they drank in before they returned to London. And for over a hundred years the pub has served the enthusiastic drinkers of the village as well. Suddenly and without warning, the owners - brewers Shepherd Neame, have closed it down.
The fact that Shepherd Neame have already sold off half the pub garden for residential development is, we are sure, coincidental to the pub's closure, but nevertheless, we would like the Sondes Arms to stay exactly where it is and are campaigning vigorously for its re-opening in whatever form is appropriate, whether a tied house as before, a community pub or a privately-owned free house.
Your support for our campaign will be invaluable!

For those of us living outside the area, how can we help?

e-petition?
write to?
donations?
letters of objection to planners?

Please help us to help you with addresses and details etc.

Best of luck, keep up the hard work.

Donations???
I didn't realise Camra was now like a US religious cult.
Has anyone really ever put their money where their mouth is?
